NYT: The Pilgrims Were ... Socialists

The real story of Thanksgiving.
The pilgrims started out as socialists.
That didn't work out, many starved.

When they switched to property ownership and individual 'go it alone' enterprise, they flourished!

Why do you think the U.S. is more predisposed toward individual merit and less toward trust of government than Europe?
Because it's worked here. We know better than Europe that everyone needs incentive to work to keep a society moving.
99 weeks of unemployment is the antithesis of incentive.
