California legislating from the bench
California is legislating from the bench: it is trying to affect all Americans with a frivolous lawsuit; backed by unsound science that has not been proven.
The state of California is suing six carmakers for costs associated with their cars' greenhouse gas emissions.Ha, that's tyranny for you. Thomas Jefferson said it best: "To consider the judges as the ultimate arbiters of all constitutional questions [is] a very dangerous doctrine indeed, and one which would place us under the despotism of an oligarchy." The proper way to handle this: first, we need better proof of a relationship between Carbon Dioxide produced by mankind (as opposed to CO2 from volcanoes and other natural sources) and global warming; second, we need to try to handle this in a voluntary way; third, we need to develop nuclear power as an alternative to coal-fired power plants, which are a major contributor to both harmless CO2 and to real pollution, fourth and finally: assuming all these other steps have been taken, and it is determined that more need be done: the legislature of the Unitied States needs to put forth an amendment to the constitution to change the way we generate CO2. Nothing less than an amendment is constitutional.
