refuting liberal points
McCain said he would take away the federal tax on gasoline during the summer months so people can travel on their vacations. That's real smart isn't it?
>that is the only response to not drilling for our own oil.
That encourages more consumptive use of energy,
>yes
makes us more dependent on foreign oil,
>that's the point. The smart thing is to drill at home!
and adds to greenhouse effects.
>False
McCain will also will keep us at war,
>He has to keep us at peacekeeping, because since we don't drill at home, we get our oil over there. We have to have the oil, or die
get rid of Roe Vs. Wade
>Roe Vs. Wade is not constitutional, it is up to the individual states to legislate in this matter
and dump most scientific research down the tubes.
>Untrue. Any research that wants to proceed, can proceed. There is not a need to federally fund
research because research that is worthwhile will be funded by capitalism.
He said DNA research on grizzly bears was "pork".
>True, it is, but DNA research on grizzly bears can proceed under capitalism.
Like Bush, he's just another numbskull with no understanding of scientific research.
>untrue, he wants scientific research to proceed under the free market.
What other scientific research will he cut funding for? Reagan cut funding for solar power research when he was president.
>Reagan cut federal funding, there was still research in the free market.
Repub politicians are just plain dumb.
>Dumb only because they don't stick to their principles of low taxes and free markets
So Charlie Gibson believes the claim the government is taking in more money by lowering the taxes.
>True, and the statement is true, google "Laffer Curve"
Obama apparently doesn't believe it.
>He doesn't believe it because he is misguided, and doesn't look at the historical
trend ove the last 40 years. Everytime taxes were cut, revenue exploded. Every time a tax increase was installed, revenue stalled to the federal government. It is the clasical idea that people don't 'move' their money when it is taxed too high.
I don't.
>you should.
Why can't our government pay its bills if we're hauling in all this money?
>Two reasons, the war costs money, admittedly, and the spendthrifts in both parties spend more than the increases in revenue. There is also the issue of entitlement programs which increase automatically each year at 3 times the rate of inflation. That's just plain DUMB.
Why do they keep cutting programs which are good and underfunding their dumb "No Child left behind" program?
>unknown, perhaps the congress doesn't have the same environmental priorities as you.
Where is all this tax money going that you claim they're taking in?
>Entitlement increases at 3 TIMES THE RATE OF INFLATION!
Why are we still borrowing from China and Japan?
>Entitlement increases at 3 TIMES THE RATE OF INFLATION! Do the math.
I think the claim the government is taking in more money is bull.
>check the facts yourself. the revenue is increasing.
The treasury is bare.
>Because the spending is greater than the increases in revenue.
>McCain has vowed to stop these spending increases.
You say most of the money going to Iraq comes back home. That's bull too.
>It does come home, in three forms. Money paid to companies in the defense industry goes to the overall economy, especially manufacturing jobs. Money to the troops. Money that is not lost because of a bigger recession if we don't get oil from the middle east.
Only a pittance of it comes back home and that goes mostly to the munitions manufacturers.
>You are overlooking the impact of oil on our economy. A BIG omission.
McCain will be like Bush and tell us everything is going fine,
>And it is.
we'll win the war,
>We already have, now we are peacekeeping and training.
everybody will get a tax refund,
>Good idea
the terrorists will all be defeated
>more and more are every day and the Iraqis are training more every day.
and the money will keep rolling in
>Revenues continue to ascend
while everything continues to fall apart.
>Not that much is falling apart. And the things that are falling apart, like the housing crisis, will correct themselves. That whole crisis was caused by an act of congress in the first place.
