MSNBC: Obama was 'kind of a Dick' in his news conference

this is with respect to Obama's discussion of the Debt ceiling vote.
Truth is a defense for slander.  The President was, in fact, a d*ck yesterday.

related:
NBC reports:

A senior Democratic aide tells NBC, "At 9:30 Senator Reid will go to the floor to announce that the Senate will forego its scheduled recess for the week of July 4th and stay in session to continue forging a deal to cut the deficit and create jobs."

Reid announced on the floor that the Senate will return for votes on the evening of July 5 and remain in session for the rest of the week. Negotiators will spend the week continuing work on a deficit reduction deal with the House and the Obama administration in advance of an August 2 debt ceiling deadline.

Lennon was a closet Republican

First we learned that Martin Luther King Jr. was registered Republican, with good reason as the R's supported the ERA, the D's were the ones who were against it.
Now we find out that...  (whoosh, I'm feeling renewed respect for John Lennon. I had respect when young, then lost respect when he went goofy, and now...)

Lennon was a closet Republican: Assistant

John Lennon was a closet Republican, who felt a little embarrassed by his former radicalism, at the time of his death - according to the tragic Beatles star's last personal assistant.

Fred Seaman worked alongside the music legend from 1979 to Lennon's death at the end of 1980 and he reveals the star was a Ronald Reagan fan who enjoyed arguing with left-wing radicals who reminded him of his former self.

In new documentary Beatles Stories, Seaman tells filmmaker Seth Swirsky Lennon wasn't the peace-loving militant fans thought he was while he was his assistant.

He says, "John, basically, made it very clear that if he were an American he would vote for Reagan because he was really sour on (Democrat) Jimmy Carter.

"He'd met Reagan back, I think, in the 70s at some sporting event... Reagan was the guy who had ordered the National Guard, I believe, to go after the young (peace) demonstrators in Berkeley, so I think that John maybe forgot about that... He did express support for Reagan, which shocked me.

"I also saw John embark in some really brutal arguments with my uncle, who's an old-time communist... He enjoyed really provoking my uncle... Maybe he was being provocative... but it was pretty obvious to me he had moved away from his earlier radicalism.

"He was a very different person back in 1979 and 80 than he'd been when he wrote Imagine. By 1979 he looked back on that guy and was embarrassed by that guy's naivete."

"Unexpectedly" Compilation

Damned Biased Media!

It's not unexpected at all. It's bias. If the media uses that word, then the average sheeple thinks that, well, this one statistic is bad, but the rest of the economy is getting better under Obama.

It's all a big lie from a biased media!

"Unexpectedly" Compilation

The Main Stream Media seems to be constantly shocked at how poorly the American economy is doing under ObamaNomics.  Whenever poor business, house, or job news comes out, they are quick to throw on the word "unexpectedly," pretending that the economy is actually doing great, but this one time it hiccuped.  But the problem is, the poor economic news is quite expected because of President Obama's incompetence.

So, I decided to take some time and compile some of the "unexpectedlies" from the start of the year until today.  But before I begin, just remember what Albert Einstein once said (which is normally attributed to Benjamin Franklin): "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

A reader calling himself JB did a great job chronologically sorting out the headlines.  He did such a good job, I figured that it had to be it's own article.  So once again, "Our Media Watchdogs" at work:

"Confidence among U.S. consumers unexpectedly fell in December," from Bloomberg Businessweek, January 3, 2011

African-American unemployment at 16 percent

You tell me, who is suffering most because Obama is making the rich pay more in taxes, and won't lower the business tax?

African-American unemployment at 16 percent

While unemployment among the general population is about 9.1 percent, it's at 16.2 percent African Americans, and a bit higher still for African American males.

CBS News correspondent Michelle Miller reports that, historically, the unemployment rate for African Americans has always been higher than the national average. However, now it's at Depression-era levels. The most recent figures show African American joblessness at 16.2 percent. For black males, it's at 17.5 percent; And for black teens, it's nearly 41 percent.

The Light Bulb Resistance Movement

By Andrea Seffens on June 15, 2011

America's wild wild west has always been home to cowboys, adventurers, hardened frontiersmen, and red-blooded, independent Americans. In the face of excessive government regulation, Texans have revived their independent streak and passed HR 2510. The bill  returns commonsense to the world of light bulbs, despite establishment opposition.

The bill allows incandescent light bulbs made in Texas to be sold within the state, working around President George W. Bush's 2007 Energy Independence and Security Act. The 2007 act would prevent the manufacture and sale of traditional 100 watt incandescent bulbs because they do not meet the new efficiency standards.  HB 2510 reestablishes Texans' rights to manufacture traditional light bulbs and sell them within the state of Texas.  The bill stipulates that the light bulbs must have "Made in Texas" clearly stamped onto them, and requires the Lone Star State's Attorney General to defend a Texan if he is prosecuted by the federal government for a supposed infraction of the Intestate Commerce Clause.

Texas, by passing HB 2510, is upholding its citizens' Constitutional rights. The federal government lacks the authority to apply the Energy Security and Independence bill's efficiency regulations to light bulbs made and sold exclusively in Texas, as they do not cross state lines and therefore cannot be regulated through the interstate commerce clause. The Constitution has not given the federal government the right to regulate light bulbs made and sold within Texas, so according to the 10th Amendment, it cannot legally do so. The 9th Amendment further strengthens the bill because although the right to make and sell light bulbs in Texas is not specifically in the Constitution, the United States government does not have the right to prevent it.

HealthWatch: Sitting Vs. Smoking

http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2011/06/08/healthwatch-sitting-vs-smoking/

Smoking cigarettes is the cause of so much preventable, deadly disease. But now new research shows sitting for long stretches of time may be just as dangerous.

"Smoking certainly is a major cardiovascular risk factor and sitting can be equivalent in many cases," explained Dr. David Coven.

Dr. Coven is a cardiologist. He says several new studies show prolonged sitting is now being linked to increased risk of heart disease, obesity, diabetes, cancer, and even early death.

"The fact of being sedentary causes factors to happen in the body that are very detrimental," said Dr. Coven.

Dr. Coven says when you sit for long periods of time; your body goes into storage mode,

When that happens, it stops working as effectively as it should. What's worse, the more hours a day you sit, the greater your likelihood of developing one or more of these diseases, just as with smoking.

Linda Caufield has a desk job. She sits nearly seven hours a day.

"I'm on the computer, I'm on the phone, I'm doing paperwork so all that stuff has to be done at my desk," she said.

Linda had no idea her desk was so deadly, noting how "sitting is probably killing me."

Paul Golin says he was sitting up to eight hours a day. But after a recent heart health scare, he bought a "stand up" desk. It's a contraption that rests on a treadmill.

"I turn on the treadmill and walk for about an hour a day," said Golin.

Golin's measures may seem extreme but so are the consequences of sitting. Dr. Coven says just get up and move when you can.

"Any time you get the blood pumping, the blood moving, it stimulates the organs to do things that are healthier," said the cardiologist.

If you think that hour of cardio you do every day negates the effect of your desk job, think again.

So get up at the office at any chance you get, don't send emails when you can deliver the message in person, take the stairs, stand up when you take a phone call. And don't forget to take your breaks, and take a walk.

Majority of Americans don't really know anything about the economy

Michelle Malkin writes: Those who can, do. Those who can't, fantasize in the classroom, fail in Washington and then return to the Ivy Tower to train the next generation of egghead economic saboteurs.

In a new Rasmussen poll, only 24% of Americans say their political views are about the same as Barack Obama's.

Another Rasmussen poll found that 66% of Americans believe that private sector workers work harder than government workers. [Duh!]

Gotta give Lawrence O'Donnell credit on this one .. "a majority of Americans don't really know anything about the economy."  How do you think we ended up with a Community Organizing hack in the White House?

Big Media Eats Crow While Palin Plays Gotcha

Big Media Eats Crow While Palin Plays Gotcha

M Catharine Evans

The mainstream media continues to embarrass itself while trying to embarrass Sarah Palin. From whining about having to pee on the side of the road in pursuit of the family tour bus to the newest feeding frenzy over Palin's Paul Revere remarks, they are exposing themselves as a juvenile lot. Their latest schoolyard taunt even has the liberal press breaking ranks.

The Boston Globe quoted Brendan McConville, a Boston University history professor admitting that Palin got her Revere facts right.

What she's saying there is essentially right...When Paul Revere was stopped by British soldiers the night of his famous ride, he did say to them that the countryside is mobilizing and you've lost the element of surprise.

Of course the liberal-minded McConville couldn't resist undermining Mrs. Palin by saying she was "lucky in her history as opposed to knowledgeable."

Andrew Malcolm of the L.A. Times also backed up Sarah's account

That the Republican non-candidate, in fact, knew more about the actual facts of Revere's midnight ride than all those idiots unknowingly revealing their own ignorance by laughing at her faux faux pas? How secretly embarrassing this must be, to be forced to face that you're dumber than the reputed dummy.

The well-known fable is Revere's late-night ride to warn fellow revolutionaries that...the British were coming. Less known, obviously, is the rest of the evening's events in which Revere was captured by said redcoats and did indeed defiantly warn them of the awakened militia awaiting their arrival ahead and of the American Revolution's inevitable victory.

Palin knew this. The on-scene reporters did not and ran off like Revere to alert the world to Palin's latest mis-speak, which wasn't.

Like a number of famous faux gaffes in American politics, the facts of the situation no longer really matter.

Yes, Andrew "the facts of the situation no longer really matter" unless you happen to be Barack Obama. At least Sarah was in the ballpark with her history. Who can forget his "misstatement" back in 2008.

It is wonderful to be back in Oregon...Over the last 15 months, we've traveled to every corner of the United States. I've now been in 57 states? I think one left to go. Alaska and Hawaii, I was not allowed to go to even though I really wanted to visit, but my staff would not justify it."

How about the bomb unleashed on Pearl Harbor?

Throughout our history, America's confronted constantly evolving danger, from the oppression of an empire, to the lawlessness of the frontier, from the bomb that fell on Pearl Harbor, to the threat of nuclear annihilation. Americans have adapted to the threats posed by an ever-changing world.

Or the 1965 March on Selma which inspired his birth in 1961?

There was something stirring across the country because of what happened in Selma, Alabama, because some folks are willing to march across a bridge. So they got together and Barack Obama Jr. was born. So don't tell me I don't have a claim on Selma, Alabama. Don't tell me I'm not coming home to Selma, Alabama.

The loyal propagandists of the American Pravda chalked up Obama's ignorance to a grueling campaign schedule. But after 2 ½ long years of trying to defend the indefensible the One's cordon sanitaire is breaking down. Palin bashing just isn't what it used to be.

NPR defends Palin? well, sort-of

NPR sort-of defends Palin. But it was their intent to ridicule her, only the facts, and this professor, got in their way.

NPR defends Palin?
Aaron Gee
While coming home I often listen to our local NPR station. This afternoons "All Things Considered" asked the question "How Accurate Were Palin's Paul Revere Comments?" The story started out with;

"Sarah Palin is defending her knowledge of American history."

Here we go again, I was prepared for the usual "Palin is a moron" storyline. Surprisingly that didn't happen. What I got was Robert Allison, a professor and historian at Suffolk University, tell the NPR host that Palin basically got it right. The interviewer, Melissa Block, tries to cajole a different narrative out of the professor and historian, throwing out the question "Are there other historians professor, whom you've talked with that say your being entirely too charitable toward Sarah Palin here?" Ms. Block starts to chuckle toward the end of the question. The professor doesn't let finish the question before responding.

The result is a classic public radio moment werein the good professor gets to the heart of the matter; Sarah Palin is a lightening rod for the media, and NPR wouldn't have been talking to him about Paul Revere or the American Revolution if it hadn't been for an off the cuff remark from an Alaskan politician.

Take a moment and listen to the short piece yourself. I don't think it quite turned out the way the producers had imagined.

Embedding YouTube Videos May Soon Be a Felony

  •   The Alex Jones Channel Alex Jones Show podcast Prison Planet TV Infowars.com Twitter Alex Jones' Facebook Infowars store

Kurt Nimmo
Infowars.com
June 2, 2011

Techdirt reports that Senate bill 978 – a bill to amend the criminal penalty provision for criminal infringement of a copyright, and for other purposes – may be used to prosecute people for embedding YouTube videos.

According to Mark Masnick, if a website embeds a YouTube video that is determined to have infringed on copyright and more than 10 people view it on that website, the owner or others associated with the website could face up to five years in prison.

Read Masnick's article here. He explains how the new law would expand copyright violations from reproducing and distributing to performing – including streaming video over the internet.

As readers of Infowars.com know, many videos are removed from YouTube after copyright owners complain about infringement. This happens with thousands of news clips every year. Most people are familiar with the now common black box replacing a video that says the video has been removed for copyright reasons.

If enacted, this law will go one step further and turn people who embed a copyrighted video into criminals. It will also set the stage to criminalize linking to copyrighted information — like corporate media news sources — and shut down the alternative media.

It will also make people think twice about putting up all kinds of videos, from news reports to clips from documentaries and other educational material.

It does not take a vivid imagination to realize the political implications of this legislation.

Here is the full text of the bill.

Addendum

It should be noted that outlawing certain activities on the internet is instrumental to the Obama administration's copyright policy.

In March, the White House's Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator, Victoria Espinel, provided Congress with a White Paper (available for download here), outlining a series of the Obama Administration's recommended legislative changes to combat online piracy and counterfeiting.

"Significantly, the recommendations include making it a felony offense to stream infringing content and giving Federal agencies wiretapping authority to obtain evidence of criminal copyright and trademark offenses," David Makarewicz wrote for Infowars.com on March 17.

Obama's emerging policy on streaming media dovetails with his administration's effort to seize web domains. The Department of Homeland Security now arrests web site operators under its "In Our Sites" program.

"On the pretext of protecting intellectual property from infringement and counterfeiters, it's about fast-tracking Internet distribution and information technology rules to subvert Net Neutrality, privacy, and personal freedoms – global rules for unrestricted free trade, undermining universal, affordable free access, civil liberties, legitimate commerce, and the right of sovereign nations to go their own way," writes Steve Lendman.

Stock up with Fresh Food that lasts with eFoodsDirect (Ad)

In addition to outlawing video streaming, new legislation "would impose a strong, top-down enforcement regime, with new cooperation requirements upon (ISPs), including perfunctionary disclosure of customer information. The proposal [the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement] also bans 'anti-circumvention measures which may affect online anonymity systems and would likely outlaw multi-region CD/DVD players. The proposal also specifies a plan to encourage developing nations to accept the legal regime," imposing consequences for opting out," a Wikileaks document disclosed in May of 2008.

So-called "secondary copyright liability" will be used to criminalize what is now routine behavior on the internet. It will also be used by the political establishment to eliminate the internet activity – primarily in the form of alternative media – of those who oppose what is shaping up to be a totalitarian state.

Palin is a true fiscal conservative

Amid media circus, Palin lays out policy positions: York

P
alin took a stand on an issue that is crucial for candidates considering a run in the Iowa caucuses. "I think that all of our energy subsidies need to be re-looked at today and eliminated," Palin told RealClearPolitics. "We've got to allow the free market to dictate what's most efficient and economical for our nation's economy." What that means is Palin opposes the infamous ethanol subsidy that some presidential aspirants are afraid to question, lest they lose support in heavily agricultural Iowa.

Palin has also been speaking out in support of Rep. Paul Ryan's budget plan -- another question that Republicans, and certainly all Republican presidential candidates, have had to answer. Palin supports the Ryan plan and even adds that she'd like to include Social Security in the deficit-cutting mix (something Ryan left out). And when Palin criticizes President Obama's inaction on the deficit, even David Brooks, the New York Times columnist who once said Palin "represents a fatal cancer to the Republican Party," observes that, "Sarah Palin is right about that. He has no plan."
